Oak Grove welcomes students who are open to learning about themselves, as much as they are to learning about science or mathematics, music, art, or the great outdoors. Students should be prepared to ask questions of themselves, their teachers, parents, friends and the world at large. A willingness to be self-reflective helps, as does an interest in why we think and act the way that we do. This active inquiry, in both the student and the educator, is important in awakening an intelligence which will help us meet all life's challenges.
At Oak Grove we are learning to live together creatively and in harmony. This requires a spirit of co-operation, and a recognition that we must take responsibility for ourselves, while caring for each other, the place in which we live, and the planet we all share. In order to do this we need to be adaptable and willing to self-critically examine our prejudices, attitudes, beliefs and images. Finally, we want students who will be happy at Oak Grove School and who are also excited about the journey of discovery that we are all taking together.
