Honoring Transitions

Junior High to High School: The 8th grade students are honored each year at the 8th Grade Gateway Exhibition & Ceremony where students present exhibitions of their learning over the previous two years that demonstrate their readiness for High School. Parents, friends, faculty, and members of the community are invited look at student exhibitions and enjoy a formal ceremony for issuing diplomas.
Junior High school students participate in the End of Year Assembly where all students perform in sing-a-long groups for the whole community, and various constituencies are acknowledged and thanked for their contribution to the community as a whole. This event is followed by a popular all school family potluck which ends the school year.
Our lives are in a constant state of growth and change, particularly throughout our school years. Times of change present tremendous opportunities for academic and social learning, for personal growth, and passage from one stage of life to another. As a school that serves students from preschool through to high school graduation, we believe it is important to honor those times of change that are particularly transformational.
