The Oak Grove Teacher’s Academy offers experienced educators and students of education the opportunity to explore the possibility of what Krishnamurti calls a revolution in education, a revolution that emphasizes self-understanding on the part of both teacher and student. The Academy provides the rare opportunity to explore Krishnamurti’s work, and participate in penetrating dialogues with like-minded educators from diverse backgrounds, in a setting of great natural beauty.
The Oak Grove Teacher’s Academy is a program designed
to explore the educational work of J. Krishnamurti and
the critical and practical challenges of teaching within the
classroom, including:
Investigating conditioning
Facilitating inquiry
Enabling group process
Exploring new levels of communication
and observation
Connecting with nature
The program also offers teachers an opportunity to become familiar with progressive educational practices, and to go much deeper, in the light of Krishnamurti’s educational insights, including:
Project-based learning: dealing with real life complexity
Holistic thinking skills: going beyond problem-solving
Inquiry-based conflict resolution
Communication skills
Workshop facilitator, Paul Herder, MA, will lead a group of distinguished educators. Paul is the Director of Teacher Development at Oak Grove School. His career in education spans 20 years and includes teaching, curriculum development, administration, educational consulting and teacher training. Before joining Oak Grove School, he worked as a teacher trainer bringing inquiry-based, student-centered educational programs to the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Tuition is $1,000 and includes tuition, room and board. A limited number of scholarships are available.
